Iveco Daily Luton Review

The Iveco Daily Luton at a glance

The Iveco Daily Luton has been a long-standing favourite for many operators who need a van that can cope with a more demanding working life than most of its competitors.

As one of the only vans on the market to use separate chassis and body construction, the Iveco Daily Luton is incredibly strong, making it ideal for heavy payloads.

The combination of the strength and durability of the Iveco Daily Luton makes it perfect for customers seeking to transport large goods. The option of adding additional packs allows you to cater the vehicle to your individual needs.

Now in its third generation, this van has continued to evolve and improve and now boasts an integration of Amazon Alexa, luxurious seats and so much more. The 2019 upgrade saw the Italian heavy-duty van brought up to date with cleaner engines, select mechanical changes and a full suite of active safety and driver assistance systems.

The Iveco Daily Luton is currently available for £405 + VAT in a range of colours. As well as luton vans, the Daily is also available with various chassis cab conversions – including tippers and box vans – and minibus variants.

Engines and Spec

The Iveco Daily Luton has a 2.3 engine size with power output ranging from 116hp through to 210hp.

A 2.3-litre option with 116, 136 or 156hp is offered in light-duty versions, with heavy-duty models limited to the latter two power outputs; all are available with a choice of eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearboxes.

A 3.0-litre diesel in 160, 180 or 210hp format is also offered with varying gearbox availability. This engine is even available modified to run on compressed natural gas (CNG) – with 136hp and 350 Nm of torque – in the Daily Natural Power model.

The alternative fuel vehicles which run on compressed natural gas are also available for conversions as well as vans.

The excellent Hi-Matic eight-speed automatic gearbox is an optional extra that’s well worth considering, though the six-speed manual is unusually precise and engineered for a long working life.

Iveco claims a 10 per cent improvement in fuel efficiency across the board when compared to the old model due to new bespoke Michelin eco tyres and the removal of the heavy hydraulic steering system.

Interior

For several generations of the Iveco Daily Luton, the Italian manufacturer has been pushing for luxury and comfortability.

The Daily Luton has been smart and well-built inside, using a variety of different colours and textures to create a lively and eye-catching dashboard.

There’s also lots of handy storage, particularly around the centre console and in the large open-air compartment on the top of the dashboard which incorporates a handy wireless changing facility.

In the centre, there is a standard compartment to plug in an aftermarket radio, and a modest glovebox and corresponding shelf above it to hold an array of items.

Not to mention the useful cup holder which is located next to the A-pillar and the centre seat which can also be folded down to provide a table area for on-the-go snacks and meals.

The 2022 version has been updated to include a new smaller steering wheel with a flat bottom and leather rim. This frees up elbow room for the driver and helps for a more seamless drive. And for the first time, the Iveco Daily Luton now comes with both rake and reach adjustment – finding a good driving position is far easier than in previous generations.

The Iveco Daily Luton also comes with a DAB radio with a small LCD screen, a phone holder and the optional Hi-Connect infotainment screen which has a centrally mounted seven-inch display and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, plus a rear parking camera. Tom Tom Sat Nav can also be added to this van.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Largest luton van on the market
  • Powerful engines
  • Alternative fuel choices

Cons

  • Confusing options list
  • Interior quality could be of a higher standard

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a large van with a huge range of options and body sizes, then the Iveco Daily Luton van could be the perfect choice for you.

Changes to the engine and its power system mean that fuel economy has been improved across the range, which will help considerably with running costs.

The option of the additional packs allows your vehicle to be catered completely to your individual needs, although it can be confusing to get your head around.

While the interior has been improved and recently updated, the material choice could be of a higher standard.

However, this is an affordable van which is capable of meeting all of your needs and exceeding your expectations.

The 2022 Iveco Daily Luton is available for £405 + VAT in a wide range of colours.

"First time using Vansaway! I was in a bit of a panic as my van broke down and I was unable to fix it. My van is my livihood, so I looked into leasing and contract. I wish I done it sooner. I spoke to Jonathan as my first point of contact. I couldn't have got any luckier having him as my support. He was absolutely fantastic, he went above and beyond to help me. He was easy to contact and would always reply when I had any concerns or questions. His knowledge on all vehicles was impeccable, which made things easier. He listened to what I wanted and needed and explained everything thoroughly help me making the right choice in plan and kept in touch throughout the entire process! He knew I was in desperate need of a van and he did not disappoint and kept his word and I was able to get my new van delivered as soon as possible. Enjoying the drive. Its great about the perks involved in having a contract hire as well! Thank you so much for everything! Highly recommend, vans are just not how they use to be, so its great to have a brand new van along with the support of any engine faults things like that. A huge stress off my shoulders being sole trader."

"I recently bought a new car from this company and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Tyler and Steve C were both brilliant to deal with – friendly, professional and incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. They took the time to answer all my questions and made everything straightforward and stress-free. The customer service was excellent and I never felt pressured at any point. Both Tyler and Steve C really went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted and that I was happy with the car. I couldn’t recommend them enough and would definitely buy from them again in the future. Thanks again for such a great experience!"
