We thought we’d kick things off with a twist on one of the most popular vans around, the Transit from Ford. Having first hit the road back in 1965, the Transit range has sold over 8 million units worldwide. It is safe to say that this Luton Van doesn’t let the Transit name down.
The 2022 Ford Transit Luton boasts a 2.0-litre eco blue engine, capable of delivering 130bhp; that’s plenty for transporting a heavy load. What’s more, the Transit Luton is more fuel efficient and eco-friendly than previous models, meeting the Euro 6 emission standards and averaging around 40mpg on paper! That’s better fuel efficiency than most competitors.
This Luton van has a total payload capacity of 1,016kg, offering the potential for the transportation of heavier goods, as well as large quantities of lower-density stock. Volkswagen Crafter Luton

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Luton
It’s hard to follow a van as impressive as the Crafter, but the Sprinter Luton conversion from Mercedes-Benz is a strong competitor. Not only does the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Luton offer a wealth of practical features, but it’s stylish too.
To put it simply, this Luton van provides control and practicality. A 2.0-litre diesel engine, manual transmission and modernised cab interior make for a smooth and comfortable driving experience whilst the sizeable loadspace and platform tail-lift make this an incredibly versatile vehicle.
In addition to all of the above, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Luton is also available with a 500kg platform tail lift. This van has an equal payload to the Volkswagen Crafter, coming in at a reasonable 1000kg.
Citroen Relay Luton
The penultimate van on our list is the Citroen Relay Luton. Boasting a 2.2-litre blue HDI engine, capable of delivering 140ps of power, this van has no problem transporting full loads, manoeuvring easily and making hills a breeze. With a payload of between 979kg to 1147kg depending on the exact model you choose, this van strikes a perfect balance between comfort and practicality.
Moreover, the cab itself features a range of well-thought-out and pragmatic details such as electrically adjustable door mirrors, electric windows, air conditioning and convenient mobile phone storage with 12v charging ports.
Fiat Ducato Luton
Last on our list is the Fiat Ducato Luton, a van that we just couldn’t ignore. The Fiat Ducato is a favourite of ours for many reasons.
