We Are Security, a fast-growing family business, has once again turned to Vanaways as its trusted supplier for new vehicles, supporting the company's nationwide expansion and building on a relationship that began three years ago.
We Are Security, founded in 1999 by Gary Catley, initially provided manned security services to the corporate and construction sectors, employing more than 100 staff at its peak. Since 2014, when Gary's sons Luke and Billy joined the business, the focus has shifted towards technology-driven solutions, offering CCTV systems on remote towers and office-based installations as a cost-effective alternative to security guards.
Now operating from Winterbourne Down on the outskirts of Bristol, the company supplies hundreds of cameras to construction sites nationwide. Rising theft and vandalism on building projects have fuelled strong demand, with the business forecasting turnover growth of around 20% annually for the next three years.
To support its expansion, We Are Security has been building its fleet. Recent additions include Ford Transit vans for transporting equipment and Land Rover Defenders for accessing rural sites where the maintenance and installation work can be challenging.

When Luke and Billy joined the business, the company had just one vehicle. Today, the fleet has grown to seven, used across sales, management, deployment and on-site support.
"Technology was quickly proving to be a better option for our clients than traditional security guards," said Billy Catley. "We started designing our own towers, and the response was immediate. Demand hasn't stopped growing since. What's been important is finding partners who share our values for quality and service - and Vanaways has always looked after us well."
Once new vehicles are delivered by Vanaways, We Are Security personalise them with their own distinctive branding. The bold branding makes the fleet instantly recognisable, whether on construction sites or out on the road.

For We Are Security, reliability is a core principle of the business. With hundreds of cameras deployed nationwide, the team prides itself on fast call-out times, dependable maintenance, and delivering services exactly when promised. This means having the right vehicle specification is critical.
High-payload vans are used daily to transport heavy batteries for maintenance, while rugged Land Rover Defenders ensure access to challenging off-road sites and can tow equipment to remote locations. More specialist requirements have also been met thanks to Vanaways' tailored solutions. One recent example Luke shared was a custom-built Mercedes Sprinter flatbed, designed with drop sides, steps, storage, and a tail lift - all specified by the We Are Security team to meet their operational demands.

As the business continues to expand, fleet growth remains a top priority - from replacing high-mileage vehicles to adding new vans and off-road models that allow the team to respond wherever their clients need them. And when Billy isn't busy building towers and protecting construction sites, he pushes boundaries in other ways too. Recently, he hiked Mount Kilimanjaro, raising an impressive £2,140 for Men's Minds Matter, a charity supporting men's mental health. Vanaways was proud to sponsor the climb, which tested both body and mind - and proved that with determination, teamwork and a little grit, even the tallest challenges can be conquered.
