MAXUS eTERRON 9– Full Vanaways Review
Welcome back to another Vanaways vehicle review. The MAXUS eTERRON 9 is a landmark vehicle for the UK and Europe, being one of the first fully electric, all-wheel-drive pick-ups to reach production. It sits in a very niche space between a commercial workhorse and a lifestyle EV SUV, aiming to replace diesel pick-ups like the Ford Ranger in a zero-emission future.
Combining zero-emission driving with four-wheel-drive capability, strong towing performance, and premium SUV-style comfort, MAXUS is aiming to offer a genuine alternative to traditional diesel pick-ups.
Designed for fleets, trades, utility operators, and lifestyle users alike, the eTERRON 9 brings modern EV technology into a segment that has long been dominated by diesel power. It is already on sale in the UK, but still in the early stages of rollout, meaning availability is limited and largely focused on fleet and commercial buyers rather than walk-in retail customers.
So, let’s take a closer look at what it offers and how it performs in the real world.
Performance, Motor & Battery Options
Under the skin, the MAXUS eTERRON 9 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering strong performance and confident traction across a range of driving conditions.
The eTERRON 9 is equipped with:
- 102kWh battery
- Dual electric motors
- Four-wheel drive (AWD)
The combined power output is over 430bhp, giving the eTERRON 9 impressive acceleration for a vehicle of this size. Despite being a fully capable pick-up truck, it can complete 0–62mph in around 5 seconds.
Depending on specification and driving conditions, the eTERRON 9 offers a WLTP driving range of up to approximately 267 miles, making it suitable for both daily commercial use and longer motorway journeys.
Charging is competitive too. Using DC rapid charging, the battery can charge from 20–80% in around 40 minutes, helping to minimise downtime during busy working days.
On the road, the electric drivetrain delivers instant torque, smooth acceleration, and a far quieter driving experience than traditional diesel pick-ups.
