Peugeot Partner Van Review

The Peugeot Partner Van at a glance

The Peugeot Partner is a small yet practical van that packs a lot of punch in its capabilities. Available with the choice of either diesel or electric configuration (though, for the purposes of this blog, we will be focusing on the diesel model), it is one of the newer small vans on the market, offering impressive technological features, a great driving experience and excellent payload ratings.

Ideal for entrepreneurs looking to take their small business mobile or freelance couriers, there is plenty of space available both in the cabin and the loading area of this van, despite its small stature. It is also offered with two lengths, so you can opt for the extended version if that little bit of extra space is still required.

Keen to learn more? Read on below as we review this van in more detail.

Engines and Spec

As we’ve mentioned, in this review we will be focusing on the diesel model of the Partner van, although it does also come available as an electric vehicle.

Looking at the engine, the Partner uses a 1.5-litre BlueHDi 100 (130 also available) S+S turbo diesel engine, achieving a torque of 250 Nm. This comes available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed automatic and utilises front wheel drive, making for an efficient drive with excellent traction.

As for the vans loading capabilities, these are truly impressive for a small van. Focusing on the models with the BlueHDi 100 engine, the standard size van offers an excellent payload of 987kg, which can be utilised in the 3.3m3 loading space (enough to fit two Euro pallets) with a load length of 1817mm, whilst the long version offers a slightly lower payload of 954kg, though a larger load space of 3.8m3 with a load length of 2167mm.

Interior

In the load area, there are six floor-mounted lashing rings, which are ideal for securing any loads and ensuring that they can be safely transported in the back of the van. This is particularly useful for courier drivers, who will likely have multiple packages to deliver throughout the day – some of which could be fragile and would benefit from being secured.

If you are someone who owns a business and takes your service to your customers, for example a hairdresser and beautician, dog groomer or even a plumber or electrician, then these would also be useful for securing your tools and equipment during transit, so that they are ready to use with no issues when you reach your destination.

Speaking of mobile business owners, the cabin area is ideal for those that are constantly working on the move. Not only is the Partner comfortable and intuitive to drive throughout the day thanks to its innovative i-Cockpit (in which the display is within the driver’s field of vision without needing to take their eyes off the road and all controls, including the 8” digital infotainment system, are within easy reach), but there is plentiful storage space to keep all your essential items, documents, drinks and even a laptop.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • High payload potential.

  • Innovative use of space and technology in the cabin area.

  • Plentiful storage options that are useful when managing a mobile business.

Cons

  • Could be more lashing options in the cargo area (e.g. options for shelving).

  • Some technological features are only available as optional extras or limited to top-spec models.

The Verdict

A compact and convenient van for freelance courier drivers and independent business owners that provide a mobile service, the Peugeot Partner is certainly up there as one of the better small vans currently on the market. With excellent payload ratings, a modern feel thanks to practical technological features and an innovative layout, it is a versatile van that offers an overall great driving experience.

Looking at prices, the standard size Partner van retails for £20,220 brand new.
