Renault Master Z.E. Dropside vs Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside

In a bid to reduce carbon emissions and limit the effects of climate change, car and van manufacturers have begun releasing electric versions of their most popular diesel vans.

Leading van manufacturers Renault and Vauxhall are no exception to this and now offer electric versions of a wide range of their most successful vehicles, including the Renault Master Z.E Dropside and the Movano-e Dropside.

As both Renault and Vauxhall have undoubtedly established a reputation for themselves as leading van manufacturers, it can be difficult to know which dropside to choose.

While the Renault Master Z.E Dropside is bulky-yet-nimble, with reasonable payload and low running costs, the Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside is also loaded with benefits, including a quiet and comfortable ride with class-leading safety equipment.

Both vans are available to buy on finance at Vanaways. The Renault Master Z.E is available for £379 + VAT whereas the Vauxhall Movano-e comes in slightly more expensive at £389 + VAT.

If you are struggling to decide which dropside vehicle is right for you, then keep on reading for our in-depth comparison of the Renault Master Z.E Dropside and the Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside as we delve into the engines, specs, and interior of these popular vans.

Engines and Spec

As both the Renault Master Z.E and Vauxhall Movano-e boast fully electric engines, you are guaranteed to benefit from low running costs, zero emissions and a quiet, smooth ride from both vehicles.

While the Renault Master Z.E is ideal for any of the increasingly common clean air zones within cities, the Vauxhall Movano-e, however, is more suited to urban environments such as loading and unloading, last-mile deliveries, and the open road.

As for the specs, the Renault Master Z.E driving range clocks in at 75 miles from a 33kWh battery while the Vauxhall Movano-e offers a 90kW motor (reaching speeds of up to 75mph with 122hp and 260Nm of instant torque) powered by a choice of either a 37kWh or 75kWh battery.

The Vauxhall Movano-e offers a slightly higher payload than the Renault Master Z.E, with an impressive 2,100kg, in comparison to the reasonable 1,490kg offered by the Renault Master Z.E.

In terms of speed, the Vauxhall Movano e-Dropside reaches speeds of up to 75mph whereas the Renault Master Z.E falls slightly short with speeds of up to 62 mph, however, both driving ranges are more than ideal for limiting longer drives on open roads.

Interior

As the primary purpose of a dropside van is to transport materials, objects or components in a faultless manner, the interior of both the Renault Master Z.E and the Vauxhall Movano-e are more functional and practical, rather than outlandish and stylish.

That being said, the Renault Master Z.E Dropside offers a fairly spacious interior with a pleasant and comfortable van experience. Likewise, the Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside delivers a spacious interior without sacrificing comfort.

While the Renault Master Z.E Dropside offers a DAB radio with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, a height-adjustable driver’s seat with adjustable lumbar support and electric, heated door mirrors, the Vauxhall Movano-e delivers forward collision alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and Hill Descent Control, which takes into account the extra length of a trailer when warning drivers about objects in their blind spot.

As mentioned in our Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside review, the Movano-e comes with the MyVauxhall app, allowing users access to useful information such as nearby charging stations, while VauxhallConnect gives drivers access to features such as current charge status.

Not only this, but the MyVauxhall app also offers LIVE Navigation providing online traffic information in real-time.

The Verdict

While both the Renault Master Z.E and the Vauxhall Movano-e offer a number of benefits which make them strong contenders, the right van for you will ultimately come down to your individual needs and preferences.

While the Renault Master Z.E offers a spacious, comfortable cabin designed for use within clean air zones at a slightly more affordable price, the Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside offers slightly larger payload specs with higher top speeds, making it perfect for reducing long journeys on the open roads.

Thanks to the electric engines in both the Renault Master Z.E and the Vauxhall Movano-e, both vehicles will deliver low running costs, zero emissions and a quiet ride.

Both vans are available to buy on finance at Vanaways. The Renault Master Z.E is available for £379 + VAT whereas the Vauxhall Movano-e comes in slightly more expensive at £389 + VAT.

From the off, the first phone call was professional and gave me all the information that I needed, Theo was great, helpful and I proceeded to order my new van, Paige sorted the paperwork quickly and efficiently and within 10 days I had my new van delivered! The price was very competitive and all parts of the transaction were easy and hassle free, wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys, Thank you so much for a really good experience."

"Paige was outstanding in her responsiveness to what presented as a serious problem for our company. The finance company used by her company caused unnecessary and significant delays in the delivery of our van - the pain of which was mitigated somewhat by Paige's proactive communication, informative and realistic communication and very professional demeanour. I'd recommend her and she meant our view of Vanaways was overall positive."
