Vauxhall Movano-e Electric Tipper Review

The Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper at a glance

The all-new Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper is one of the last to join the fully electric Vauxhall range, alongside the electrified version of the smaller combo and Vivaro.

The outgoing Movano range includes ready-bodied tipper, crew-cab tipper, dropside, crew cab dropside and box van models.

With a choice of two lengths, a maximum payload of 2,110kg and a range of up to 139 miles before it needs to be plugged in again, the Movano-e is a seriously tempting vehicle for all sorts of fleets and businesses.

Designed to comfortably meet the wide-ranging demands of business and fleet users, the versatile All-New third-generation Movano-e is available as a panel van, crew cab and chassis cab. With All-New Movano-e, customers also benefit from zero emissions-in-use running, low running costs as well as a range of up to 139 miles (WLTP).

Powering the Movano-e is an electric motor producing 120PS and 260Nm of torque, which Vauxhall says makes it perfect for the cut and thrust of the urban environment, such as last-mile deliveries, as well as the open road.

Keep reading to hear more of our thoughts on the engines and specs and interior design of the popular Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper.

Engines and Spec

The Vauxhall Movano e-Tipper boats a fully electric 90kW motor, meaning customers can benefit from zero emissions and low running costs.

The Movano-e Tipper is available with a choice of either a 37kWh or 70kWh battery, with ranges of 72 miles and 139 miles.

The tipper is exempt from current ultra-low and congestion charge payments. At the same time, the zero-emissions powertrain also allows businesses to save significantly on company van tax, with a 0% Benefit-in-Kind tax rate.

Vauxhall says that the Movano-e can get from zero to an 80% charge in an hour on a 50kW rapid charger, and take between six and 12 hours on a 7kW wall box of the type commonly installed at homes and workplaces.

If you have access to a 22kW AC charger then that should get you from 0-80% in four hours. Improvements to the 75kWh battery mean that this is half the time that the 70kWh battery took on the same type of charger.

Gross vehicle weights (GVW) will range from 2,800kg to 4,000kg and Vauxhall quotes a maximum payload of 2,100kg. Despite a slightly limited payload, there is no limit on loading capacity compared to the diesel version of the Movano, thanks to the lithium battery pack being located under the floor away from the load area.

Interior

The interior of the Vauxhall Movano e-Tipper is comfortably spacious with a smooth and quiet ride, thanks to the fully-electric motor.

As with other Vauxhall LCV models, the Movano-e benefits from both VauxhallConnect and the MyVauxhall app.

On the Movano-e, the MyVauxhall app allows access to useful information such as nearby charging stations, while VauxhallConnect gives drivers access to features such as current charge status. On all versions of All-New Movano, LIVE Navigation provides online traffic information in real-time.

The Movano-e is also available with a range of key safety features designed to protect both occupants and other road users. Depending on trim level the systems available include forward collision alert, blind spot warning, lane departure warning and Hill Descent Control, which takes into account the extra length of a trailer when warning drivers about objects in their blind spot.

The Verdict

If you’re looking for a tipper van that is environmentally conscious without compromising on comfort, then the Vauxhall Movano-e Tipper might be the vehicle for you.

The tipper has an electric motor producing 120PS and 260Nm of torque, which can be charged from 0-80% in just one hour.

With zero tail emissions, a range of safety features and a quiet, comfortable ride, this vehicle is a seriously tempting vehicle for all sorts of fleets and businesses.

This vehicle is ideal for tradesmen making regular stops on their journey and who require a large loading space to transport and distribute tools, equipment and materials.
