Vauxhall Movano Low Loader Review

The Vauxhall Movano Low Loader at a glance

Long journeys, tight schedules and busy days are all too familiar to those working in the delivery and courier industries. Whether you’re a small business owner offering removal and transportation services, or a trader managing a more established fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring that they’re up to the task is essential. If you’re on the lookout for a large commercial van that offers versatility, great value for money and is more than capable of handling heavy loads, the Vauxhall Movano Low Loader is a strong contender.

It’s not too often that a van outshines its competitors like the Vauxhall Movano Low Loader. From payload and storage capacity to drivability, efficiency and cab design, this impressive vehicle really hits the nail on the head. It’s cost-effective, comfortable and can handle almost anything you throw at it (metaphorically speaking of course). Put simply, it’s a proper van.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this sounds too good to be true. Read on to find out what makes the Vauxhall Movano’s engine, payload and interior stand out.

Engines and Spec

Let’s start with the fundamentals. This model of the Vauxhall Movano is powered by a mighty 2.3-litre Turbo diesel engine, connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. This provides a real punch when it comes to transporting full loads and tackling heavier goods. Owing to this impressive engine, the Vauxhall Movano handles itself surprisingly well for a large van, providing smooth gear changes and an all-round comfortable driving experience.

Sure, the Movano Low Loader has a great engine, but is the payload actually that good? The short answer is yes. The Movano Low Loader manages to top its class with regard to payload and volume! Of course, these figures are dependent on the model chosen, but the top payload in the low-loader variant is a whopping 1496 kg.

Regarding dimensions and practicality, the Movano Maxi Low delivers once again, with a huge 20cm3 load volume. That’s great news for both fleet manager and owner-driver as more space means fewer returns to the depot, ideal for maximising profit and making the most of time on the road.

Although the low loader’s floor sits just 600mm from the ground, loading and unloading cargo is made even easier by the Movano’s rear, 400mm step. It’s almost as if this van was designed with functionality in mind!

Interior

As we’ve covered the Movano’s mighty payload and turbo-charged engine, it should come as no surprise that the interior is equally impressive. Within the cab, both driver and passengers are treated to comfort and space, with plenty of legroom, an adjustable steering column and a wealth of multi-functional storage.

We’re definitely fans of the large windscreen and elevated cab position which equate to great visibility and increased road awareness. What’s more, the large windows, rear-view camera and extended wing mirrors make parking and reversing a dream; no more scrapes and dents.

Regarding in-cab tech, the infotainment suite has also been improved; Movano drivers can enjoy Bluetooth connectivity, digital radio, satellite navigation and USB inputs, one of which is discreetly stored inside a lockable compartment.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Class-leading Payload

  • Drives Beautifully

  • Easy Loading & Unloading

Cons

  • Fuel Economy is fourth highest in its class, behind the Citroen Relay, Peugeot Boxter and Fiat Ducato

The Verdict

There is no denying that the Vauxhall Movano is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to payload, comfort, practicality and cost. From the powerful engine and top-tier load potential to the spacious cab and well-considered storage, this van does everything you’d expect, and then some.

For those looking for a cost-effective alternative to industry giants such as the Ford Transit or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the Vauxhall Movano Low Loader is a sure choice. Here at Vanaways, we’re pleased to offer this great vehicle for as little as £439 + VAT per month.
