Citroen E-Relay Dropside vs Vauxhall Movano-e Dropside

The van world in recent times has moved quickly into the electric market. Much like the regular car sphere vans are now easily built with electric motors and the technology is certainly capable enough to justify this. Battery power has increased a huge amount in the last decade and so too has electric motor technology. Of course, there is a very good reason for this influx in new electric vehicles and we’re all very aware of this. The climate crisis is knocking at all of our doorsteps and we need to do our bit to help slow this rapid change down.

Naturally one of the easiest ways in which people can do their bit for the planet is by purchasing and using a carbon-free vehicle. Diesel and petrol vehicles are some of the largest contributors to climate change and phasing them out of our society is one of the biggest projects in the world at the moment.

So, with this rise in technology, we are now firmly in a place where electric vans can compete with their diesel cousins. This has now caused a new debate in many people’s minds. Which electric van do they choose? Of course, most of these vans feature brand-new technology and state-of-the-art features so it is incredibly hard to choose. However, keep reading this blog and hopefully, we can make the decision a little easier for you.

Engines and Spec

Naturally, both of these vans have extremely capable electric motors. With dropside vans, you need to have plenty of power and torque to ensure that you can pull large payloads. So, how do these two vans compare when it comes to their electric motors and charging statistics?

The Movano-e features a generous 90Kw motor which produces a very healthy 122hp and 260 Nm of torque. These are very impressive statistics for a large electric van and it means that your Movano-e is capable of a staggering 75mph. Clearly then this van is a powerful vehicle but what about charging?

Fast chargers are now dotted around the country in many spots and they have the ability to charge electric vehicles far faster than your mains power at home. Using one of these fast chargers with the Movano-e will allow you to charge the batteries from 0 to 80% in less than an hour.

The E-Relay has very similar statistics when it comes to power and charging capabilities as it too benefits greatly from fast chargers. They are also very similar when it comes to power. The first real difference comes in the form of range. Of course, the range is somewhat less important than what it used to be with the influx of fast chargers around the nation. Though, it is still important to many vehicle users. The Movano-e is capable of a commendable 139 miles on a single charge however the E-Relay can travel up to 154 miles on a single charge. Clearly, this is a fairly large difference though if you’re using these vans in an urban environment range statistics like this will make little difference to your decision process.

Interior

Clearly, both of these vans have incredible interiors and there’s no guessing why, really. They are both highly modern electric vehicles and they should have the latest in technology on display. What’s more, they should be comfortable and feature a variety of effective storage solutions.

The E-Relay features a large and spacious cab with plenty of legroom and comfort throughout. What’s more, there are plenty of spaces for storage and even lockers to store some of your more valuable items. As for the Movano-e this follows a fairly similar narrative: the cab is incredibly well-designed and there are a myriad of storage options. However, the Movano-e does benefit from a five-inch display screen which can play your music in the can or act as a navigation system on those long journeys.

So, strictly speaking, there isn’t much to split these two vans when it comes to the interior. Though if a display screen is a be-all or end-all for you then the Mavona-e looks like the van for you.

The Verdict

Of course, one of the best things about both of these vans is they are extremely cheap to run. Charging your vans with most of the fast chargers around the country will be completely free and using your mains power and home will also be extremely good value. What’s more, common driving costs such as road tax, low emission zones, and congestion charges will also be completely free!

Naturally when it comes to a dropside van, one of the most important aspects is the payload. This figure will show you how much weight your van can realistically carry without drastically changing its performance on the road. So, how do these two vans compare when it comes to their payload?

The E-Relay can handle just over 1,200kg which is of course a huge payload statistic for an electric vehicle. However, the Movano-e is slightly more capable in comparison. Vauxhall claims that the Movano-e’s payload is just over 2000kg which is of course a fair deal more that the E-Relay.

If either of these two vans sounds like the next vehicle for you, then feel free to contact us today! Our staff are friendly and experienced and would love to help you find your next van!
