Ford E-Transit Dropside vs Maxus E Deliver 9 Dropside

It is no secret that electric vehicles are now extremely popular and competent machines. They have risen in popularity after the effects of climate change became unavoidably significant. This meant that many vehicle manufacturers started to research and develop various different fossil fuel alternatives. One of these alternatives which proved particularly efficient was, of course, electric power. Nowadays, electric cars are popular sights on our roads and the infrastructure to support these new vehicles is well established. This is one of the main reasons why electric vans are now a genuine option for tradespeople around the country.

Electric vehicles need to be charged at regular intervals, meaning that our roads and facilities need to have a myriad of charging points to support this. Nowadays, there are more and more of these charging stations popping up around the country so you can keep your vehicle charged up and ready to go. So, you don’t have to worry about the charge running out anymore.

With the rise of electric vans, you can now get an electric variant of almost every type of van shape. This has meant that van drivers find themselves choosing between many manufacturers. Two of these manufacturers that many people often choose between are Ford and Maxus. These two van producers have both developed a new electric dropside van, the Ford E-Transit Dropside and the Maxus E Deliver 9 Dropside. So, which is better?

Engines and Spec

The electric motor in these new vehicles is quite naturally one of the most important aspects. Dropside vans need to be extremely capable of lifting large loads and driving for extended periods of time. This, of course, means that their power must be enough to pull their heavy cargo with ease. This is why the electric van suits the dropside van almost perfectly. Electric motors are notoriously high-powered and extremely capable with their torque statistics. This means that they can easily lift the heavy loads required of them.

The E-Transit is an extremely capable van when it comes to power and its electric motor. The vehicle comes with a 198kW motor, which produces a very commendable 269hp. There is also a slightly less powerful option, which is capable of 184hp. We would recommend the more powerful option for the dropside van shape, as these vehicles need to be able to pull fairly heavy loads regularly.

In terms of range, the Ford is pretty impressive in this field as well. Despite the increased number of electric charging points throughout the country, it is still important to have a vehicle which has a fairly capable range. The 196-mile range which the Ford produces is, in fact, extremely competitive and means that you can drive this van with confidence.

As for the Maxus e-Deliver 9 dropside, this van is also very impressive when it comes to its power statistics. Its 150kW electric motor produces a commendable 201hp, which is of course slightly less than the most powerful transit model. However, 201hp will still be plenty enough power for your dropside van.

Interior

As you would expect for two modern electric vehicles, the interiors of both these vans really are impeccable. There is plenty of storage in them and the technology available is very impressive. Though which has the better interior for your needs?

In terms of technology, many would argue that the Ford just beats the Maxus. The van comes with a 12-inch central touchscreen compared with a 10-inch screen for the Maxus. Of course, there is very little to split the two here, but this might be a contributing factor.

The storage in both the vans really is impeccable and you can find both secure lockers and easily accessible door bins for a variety of your tools and other equipment. So, with both of these vans, you won’t have a problem storing your equipment.

The driving position in both of the vans is also very commendable and you will certainly feel safe on your morning commutes.

The Verdict

Naturally, both of these vans are almost completely free when it comes to their running costs. Costs which petrol drivers usually have to cover, such as road tax, congestion charges, and low emission zones, will be completely free. Also, charging your van will also cost very little at all.

So, both of these vans are extremely capable and, in reality, it will come down to personal preference. However, we do hope that this article has made the choice slightly easier for you. Make sure you contact us today to speak with our friendly staff about your next van!

"Paige was outstanding in her responsiveness to what presented as a serious problem for our company. The finance company used by her company caused unnecessary and significant delays in the delivery of our van - the pain of which was mitigated somewhat by Paige's proactive communication, informative and realistic communication and very professional demeanour. I'd recommend her and she meant our view of Vanaways was overall positive."
