Ford E-Transit Tipper vs Maxus E-Deliver 9 Tipper

Those looking to acquire an economical work vehicle which retains tipper functionality could certainly do far worse than either the E-Transit Tipper from Ford, or the E-Deliver 9 Tipper from emerging Chinese brand Maxus. Both exceptionally adaptable and able to navigate city streets, expansive country roads and motorway routes, you’ll be hard-pressed to get your hands on a pair of tradesperson vehicles which are as versatile as these two.

Clearly the result of accumulated effort and application, the Maxus E Deliver 9 Tipper is an updated model of the highly successful Maxus e-Deliver 3, building upon many of the assets of the impressive original. Meanwhile, the Ford E-Transit Tipper requires no introduction – with the Transit of course an iconic vehicle. Both possess cohesive Tipper functionality and a handy number of positives to cast your eye over within this review!

Whilst many electric conversions of popular vans show a distinct difference in performance when compared with their standard editions, the e-Transit, however, keeps up with the capabilities of the equivalent diesel model. In the same vein, the Maxus retains great performance specifications and a consistently comfortable drive. Make your way through this helpful van vs van guide and be sure to contact Vanaways for your dedicated supply of brand new vans, with finance offers also available.

Engines and Spec

Arguably the most important area of consideration for many van drivers are the efficiency of engine, and technical specifications. Of course, when dealing with EV models, there’s no engine to speak of! As an alternative, the Ford E-Transit Tipper runs on a fully-electric 68kW battery, with the Maxus E Deliver 9 Tipper benefitting equally from maximum 89kW of equivalent power. Concerning range, the e-Transit tipper has an exceptional capability of 196 miles per full charge – an impressive figure compared to almost all other similarly sized vans. Even more impressively, the Maxus E Deliver 9 Tipper is able to go one better, With a maximum driving range of 219 miles per charge for the van integrated with a 89kWH battery pack.

As exceptional as the driving range may be, users will also be on the market for a light commercial vehicle which is quickly and easily charged or maintained. First and foremost, the the e-Transit Tipper charges in as little as 34 minutes when connected to a 115kW DC fast charger, this sits alongside the Maxus, which understandably takes slightly longer with a 40 to 45 minute estimate. Seeking more info? There’s plenty of additional insight within our Maxus e-Deliver 9 Tipper Electric Review.

Interior

Depending on the body size you opt for, the Ford E-Transit Tipper payload fluctuates between 942 and 1,001kg, which should equal out at more than enough for delivery couriers, workmen and other professionals. Blowing this figure out of the water however, is the Maxus E Deliver 9 Tipper, which arrives boasting an impressive maximum payload of 1480kg. As you may have figured by now, brand name certainly isn’t everything – and the Maxus offering is about as close to ‘the full package’ as you could possibly wish for.

Concerning selected features, the e-Transit Tipper comes complete with a larger 12 inch touchscreen infotainment display, and this is perhaps one of the few categories the Maxus loses out in. By no means small, the 10 inch interactive monitor within the E-Deliver is a prominent dashboard feature within the otherwise fairly sparse cab section. Additionally, the Transit Tipper’s small yet convenient features point towards a real commitment to user satisfaction, from the keyless start and electric parking brake, to the heated windscreen.

We could probably dedicate an entire review to the features of the Ford alone – and for more insight, don’t hesitate to take a look through our original standalone Van Review!

The Verdict/Snapshot

In summary of both EV Tipper options, this is a tale of two categories. Whereas both models are more than competitive concerning payload, chargeability and range, the ultra-impressive Maxus is among the best electric vans we’ve encountered for sheer usability over distance, an area that electric models notoriously struggle with.

Ford’s Transit Tipper variant defines an ‘office on wheels’, making it perhaps more of a sensible choice for local jobs. Searching for an upgrade from a van in which the Interior is perhaps slightly generic? Simply contact our friendly team. We would be delighted to help you find an affordable E-Transit Tipper.

"Paige was outstanding in her responsiveness to what presented as a serious problem for our company. The finance company used by her company caused unnecessary and significant delays in the delivery of our van - the pain of which was mitigated somewhat by Paige's proactive communication, informative and realistic communication and very professional demeanour. I'd recommend her and she meant our view of Vanaways was overall positive."
