Man eTGE Dropside vs Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Dropside

When it comes to vehicles, we are currently experiencing one of the largest shifts in technology we have seen since the invention of the combustion engine. This shift in technology now means that many consumers across the world are now struggling to decide which car is right for them. Of course, petrol and diesel engines are still very common and they are now incredibly reliable. Though there is no denying that they are extremely harmful to the environment and cost a fortune to run. These two reasons are the main driving force behind many people’s decision to switch to electric power.

Electric power is fast becoming the most popular choice when it comes to buying a new car in the UK. Of course, this is thanks largely to the improved infrastructure throughout the country to support these new electric vehicles. For example, there are now many fast chargers dotted around the country, so you can quickly get your car ready for the road again in no time. This new and improved infrastructure means that people who often use vans are now choosing to make the switch as well.

This new wave of electric vans has, however, caused a slight problem for potential buyers. Which of these new electric vans is best for you and how do you know? To figure out this question, you must try to acquire information about as many vans as possible. Two of the most prominent electric van manufacturers are Mercedes-Benz and Man. These two van builders have an extensive range of both electric and diesel models however, two of their most popular are the Man eTGE and the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter. Both of these vehicles come in the dropside body type, but which is better? Check out this blog to find out!

Engines and Spec

Both of these vans feature the latest in electric motor technology and they really push the boundaries of what was thought possible from electric power. Put it this way, a few years ago if you had said to someone that you owned a large payload fully electric vehicle that could handle your commute, they would have said you were lying. Now though, it is a common reality and these two vans only make the case stronger for completely electric vehicles. Though the sublime efficiency and brilliant statistics make it hard to choose between them. So, which is better when it comes to their power and range?

The Man eTGE is a shining example of how capable a modern electric vehicle really is. The new technology featured throughout this van really is a highlight and certainly turns many heads. As Man is a relatively new brand, especially when compared to the global giant that is Mercedes-Benz, many people tend to overlook its capabilities. However, Man really has developed an extremely capable van and its stats only prove this more. The eTGE can be changed at a DC charging station, which takes just over five hours and it can also gain power through a standard 23V socket, which will naturally take a little longer.

When it comes to the eSprinter, this van is also a great example of the capabilities that modern electric motors have. The van can drive up to 96 miles on a full charge, which is slightly better than the Man. Though the difference isn’t huge, it may well be a selling point for you, so keep this in mind.

Interior

As you might expect, both of these vans have very commendable interiors with a myriad of technology and storage options available. Aside from the normal lockers and secure storage, there are a few other stand-out features within both of these vans which you should probably be aware of.

So, when it comes to the eSprinter, you will benefit from Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to seamlessly play music from your phone through the world-class Mercedes speakers. As for other high-tech features, you’re not exactly spoilt for choice.

Naturally, the Man eTGE comes with a few slightly different features than the eSpinter. Of course, you’ll have your fairly standard Bluetooth connectivity. Though you’ll also benefit from a digital entertainment screen which can double up as a navigational system.

The Verdict

There’s no denying that this is a difficult decision to make. After all, both of these vans are highly capable machines and will certainly help you to navigate your day with relative ease and, perhaps most importantly of all, comfort. Though there are a few things which set the two vans apart. When it comes to range, the eSprinter is the van for you and it can certainly handle a fair few of these miles. While the technology available in the eTGE is far superior, so if this is a deal breaker for you, then the Man is likely the best van to choose from.

One thing is for sure, if you’d like some advice on which van is right for you, then get in touch with us today. We have many experienced and knowledgeable staff on board that would be more than happy to talk your options through with you.

"Paige was outstanding in her responsiveness to what presented as a serious problem for our company. The finance company used by her company caused unnecessary and significant delays in the delivery of our van - the pain of which was mitigated somewhat by Paige's proactive communication, informative and realistic communication and very professional demeanour. I'd recommend her and she meant our view of Vanaways was overall positive."
