Petrol, Diesel, Electric, Hybrid – What Should I Pick?

There is no question that the automotive industry is going through one of the biggest changes in its history. We are now far from the days of only seeing one fuel type in our petrol stations and choosing between all of these power formats can be challenging. As you might expect, there are pros and cons to almost all of these options and you must decide which is right for you. So, in this blog, we will talk through these power types to try and make this ever more challenging decision a little easier for you. So, keep reading this blog to find out more.

Petrol and diesel

Both petrol and diesel are unquestionably the oldest forms of power that we will mention in this blog and the fact is that they are extremely reliable and highly effective. Though why are they so effective? Well, the simple answer is that we have had over 100 years to develop, fine-tune and master the art of combustion engines and nowadays we have been able to make them incredibly effective and efficient. So, thanks to many years of development, there is plenty of infrastructure around these power types, making them a great option if you live rurally. So, what about the other fuel methods?

Hybrid

The obvious halfway house between fuel and electric hybrid cars and vans are currently taking the world by storm. Essentially, most vehicles that use this method work on the basis of a small engine powering an electric motor that, in turn, powers the wheels. The great thing about this power type is that you get the convenience of petrol and diesel while getting some of the economic benefits of fully electric vehicles. We would say that hybrids are the perfect option for tradespeople or delivery drivers that work in the countryside. So, what about electric vans? How do they compare? Keep reading this to find out more.

Electric

By far the newest option on this list, electric vans are now taking over the industry. After all, as the climate crisis continues to tighten its grip on the world, there is more and more reason to do what we can to save the planet. So, how can we do this? Well, one of the easiest ways is to cut down your dependence on fossil fuels. With an electric van, you will greatly reduce your carbon footprint and help the planet that little bit. We would suggest that an electric van is best suited to those who live and work in cities and there is far better infrastructure in place and you will have to travel fewer miles every day.

"Paige was outstanding in her responsiveness to what presented as a serious problem for our company. The finance company used by her company caused unnecessary and significant delays in the delivery of our van - the pain of which was mitigated somewhat by Paige's proactive communication, informative and realistic communication and very professional demeanour. I'd recommend her and she meant our view of Vanaways was overall positive."
