Maxus e-Deliver 9 Review

The Maxus e-Deliver 9 At A Glance

Offering improved space, greater range capacity and an all-round, pure and economical driving experience, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 is the big brother to the highly successful Maxus e-Deliver 3, boasting even greater performance and specs. Available with a 150Kw/310Nm motor, in three different battery configurations and two different panel types, (chassis cab and minibus), the Maxus e-Deliver 9 offers a maximum driving range of 219 miles per charge.

With prices starting at a competitive £399 a month + VAT at Vanaways, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 offers greater power than any other large van on sale in the UK today, including diesel models,  with a maximum battery of 88.55kWh found in the larger, long-wheelbase variation.

Engines and Spec

Featuring a 150kW (201bhp) motor capable of producing 310 Nm of maximum torque, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 is considerably more powerful, (not to mention efficient), than the diesel alternative. As mentioned, the e-Deliver 9 has a particularly outstanding range of batteries, offering three battery pack variations, 52kWh, 72kWh and 89kwH, either matching or outdoing the majority of competitors in performance.

Boasting an impressive maximum payload of 1200kg for the 52kWh model, 1020kg for 72kWh and 860kg for the 89kWh, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 is available in two wheelbase lengths ranging between 3366mm and 3760mm, with the largest battery, (89kWh), only available on the longer wheelbase variant. Total vehicle length will range between 5546mm and 5940mm, offering a usable loadspace length between 3019mm and 3413mm with an internal load space of 1792mm.

With a maximum driving range of 219 miles per charge for the 89kWH battery pack, 146 miles for 72kWh and 112 miles for the 52kWh, the Maxus e-Deliver9 offers highly competitive range capacity figures for a large electric van. Better still; rapid charging points can take as little as 40-45 minutes to charge your electric van, depending on the size of the battery, whilst at-home charging points will offer similar charging times to most electric vehicles, (around 6-8 hours).

Interior

Offering a sleek, modern interior, with an array of piano black plastic and chrome-effect trim on display, the Maxus e-Deliver 9’s interior aesthetic is not dissimilar to the diesel model, with optimal, though not entirely brilliant quality materials, leading to a few squeaky noises here and there. Still, it’s not much different to the interiors of many of its key rivals, offering a large 10.0in infotainment touchscreen that dominates the dash, much like most modern vans.

With a comfortable, if a little firm driver’s seat, fitted with a built-in armrest and easy adjustment for fine-tuning your perfect seating position, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 is, as ever, designed with long journeys in mind.

Pros & Cons

As with any vehicle, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 comes with an important list of pros and cons one must consider before purchasing. Below, we outline some of the key considerations to make when thinking of investing in the Maxus e-Deliver 9.

Pros:

  • Competitively Priced
  • Spacious & Comfortable
  • Handles Well

Cons:

  • Noisy Batteries/In-Cabin Noise From Road
  • Sluggish Touchscreen Monitor
  • Generic/Low-Grade Interior
  • Firm Seats

The Verdict

Arguably a touch on the expensive side, certainly in comparison with the competition, the Maxus e-Deliver 9 may not be the revolutionary electric van we’ve all been waiting for, but it certainly has a few tricks up its sleeve if you’re in the market for a stylish, modern and versatile electric van. Fitted with clever specs, a comfortable, if slightly firm driver’s seat complete with an armrest, a whole host of equipment as standard, a range of wheelbases, load types and battery packs, the Maxus e-Deliver 9, well… delivers.

"Overall dealings were good. Broadly speaking, response to emails could've been more timely. Joe, Snr Cust Service advisor in particular, was very good indeed. Sorted out the paperwork issues promptly. Overall, would recommend."

"First class service, I must mention Adrian & Ash on an excellent deal & swift turn around under the short notice I had to buying a new van. Slight delay in the delivery of the van from manufacturers end but Adrian agreed to cover the cost of a hire van until my new van was delivered which allowed me to continue working. its the first time i've purchased a van without physically entering a dealership and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again."
