The South West of the UK is known for its beautiful countryside, jaw-dropping views, and enchanting woodland. It is without a doubt one of the best places to visit if you enjoy a camping holiday. For years, many British holidaymakers have come in large numbers down to this part of the English countryside to enjoy the sights and immerse themselves in the slow-paced and tranquil West Country atmosphere. So, what are a few standout locations for you to visit near Bristol?

Blagdon Village

The village of Blagdon is a perfect example of a traditional English settlement. Set within the famous Mendip Hills this quaint village is certainly one for the postcards. A walk through the village almost feels as though you are stepping back in time with a myriad of listed buildings and the beautiful Blagdon Lake as a backdrop.

Dyrham Park

The English countryside is of course famous for its decadent and impressive country homes. In fact, they are some of the largest tourist attractions in the country bringing in millions of visitors every year. One of these houses is Dyrham Park. The country home is now owned by the national trust and is open to the public. Built in the 17th century upon the site of a much older manor house Dyrham park was originally designed for the Blathwayt family who were a prominent political powerhouse during the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Wave

If you’re a thrill seeker and fancy a bit of adrenaline to get your blood pumping, then The Wave is a great choice. This artificial wave pool is one of the UK’s top surfing destinations and can accommodate all abilities. From knee-high beginner waves to head-high barrels you can certainly get your surfing fix here.

Leigh Woods and the Avon Gorge

After a breathtaking drive over the world-famous Clifton Suspension Bridge, you’ll find yourself in Leigh Woods. This beautifully maintained National Trust space is an amazing example of native English woodland. After a short walk through this enchanting forest, you’ll find yourself looking over the jaw-dropping Avon Gorge with views of towering limestone cliffs and the city of Bristol behind.

Ashton Court Estate

Set in the shadow of the city of Bristol Ashton Court Estate is a shining example of an English manor house. The estate gardens are beautifully maintained and host a large herd of Red Deer, England’s largest land mammal. Ashton Court manor house was built in the 11th century and has seen a variety of large expansions and modifications since then.

"First class service, I must mention Adrian & Ash on an excellent deal & swift turn around under the short notice I had to buying a new van. Slight delay in the delivery of the van from manufacturers end but Adrian agreed to cover the cost of a hire van until my new van was delivered which allowed me to continue working. its the first time i've purchased a van without physically entering a dealership and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again."
